What we did
On the University of the Algarve's Gambelas Campus in Faro, Master's Touch carried out the painting of the Gambelas Bar building. It is a public project, on a university campus used by students and staff, a few minutes from our base in Faro.
The façades were finished in off-white, a shade that sits well with the metal canopy, the roof and the grey name sign. The progress photographs also show the interior, with the walls already painted white, scaffolding in place and materials gathered in the room.
While the work was under way, the site hoarding carried the Master's Touch sign, so anyone crossing the campus knew who was working and whom to contact.
In a public building the method is the same one we follow in a villa: protect what stays, treat the substrate, apply the right system for each surface and hand the space back clean. What changes is the planning. There are opening hours, access routes and people around, and the work has to fit around all of them.
For the building's managers, the result is a clean, even façade that gives the Gambelas Bar back the look of a well-kept building on campus. For Master's Touch, it is one of the public projects we can show by name, alongside Lagoa Municipal Library and the Civil Protection warehouse in Lagoa.

Gambelas lies in the municipality of Faro, on the north-western edge of the city, and is home to the University of the Algarve's main campus. Faro is also where Master's Touch is based and where the team sets out for projects across the Algarve. On public work that proximity matters, because it makes site visits, meetings and follow-up easier.

Do you take on painting work in public buildings?
Yes. As well as the University of the Algarve's Gambelas Campus, we have worked on Lagoa Municipal Library and the Civil Protection warehouse in Lagoa. IMPIC licence (alvará) no. 151991-PUB and public liability insurance (Allianz).
Can you paint a building that stays in use during the work?
Yes. Working hours, access and protected areas are agreed before we start, so the work is planned around the people using the space.
