Our three projects in Lagoa have one thing in common: the substrate was tired before we arrived. At a villa with a courtyard, in sight of the church tower, the render was worn and the paint flaking. We pressure washed the façades, consolidated them with CIN R-700 resin, applied a reinforced skim coat of A96 mortar with glass-fibre mesh and finished with a CIN paint system. At the Municipal Library, the main timber door had worn, chipped varnish; it was stripped back to bare wood and finished in burgundy. At the Civil Protection warehouse, the exterior walls had damp patches, streaks and cracks, which we repaired ahead of painting. Three very different scales, a house, a door and a warehouse, and one method: substrate first, colour second. Lagoa is also where most of our published public projects are.
