What we did
This apartment painting project in Tavira combined two jobs: a full repaint of the walls and, separately, the preparation and painting of the doors and a wardrobe. The published photographs show the second part, carried out in stages inside a sheeted-off area, from sanding through to the final coat.
On the walls, the work began with repairing the cracks. Painted over without treatment, a crack tends to reappear. Then came primer and a full repaint in Vinylmatt, a matt interior paint by CIN.
The doors were laid on trestles with their glass protected. Sanding was done two ways: by machine on the panels, with dust extraction, and by hand on the frames, with a sanding block, where a machine cannot reach without rounding the edges.
The doors were spray-lacquered in white inside an area sealed off with plastic. Spraying lays the paint down evenly and leaves a smooth surface with no brush or roller marks. The wardrobe went through the same process, so the joinery and the walls share the same standard of finish.
For the owner, the result is walls with no visible cracks and doors and a wardrobe in an even lacquered finish, with the dust kept under control inside the home.

Tavira, in the eastern Algarve, is the most easterly of these projects. In an apartment, the work takes place inside a shared building and often with the home still furnished. That is why, here, sanding was done with dust extraction and spraying inside a sheeted-off area: dust and overspray stay where the work is, not in the rest of the home or the common parts.
